God damned noise!
valeriavalravn25 October 2015
OK, so...it's an interesting film. The actors that play the couple are pretty good, they definitely appear eccentric.

My gripe with this film and why it gets a low score is the god damned garbled 10 times louder junk sound that plays when a specific camera is on.

The film claims to be a film edited together from a bunch of found footage by an actual film maker so it just really grates on me that this supposed film maker would just leave this ridiculously way way louder noise in, like, he wouldn't turn the noise down or just cut the noise out because you literally can't hear ANYTHING that isn't this garbled noise. I am aware that this isn't a true story and that it's meant to feel like found footage but just.. WHY?!

Snuff's Enough
NoDakTatum15 October 2023
Once again, a serious opening credits crawl tells us that this film was assembled from "found footage"...damn it... Ed (Jim Roof) and Susan (a pretty good Shannon Malone) run a fringe DVD production house called Studio Red. They concentrate on videotaping snuff films out of their specially built home. This time around, Ed is determined to get his masterpiece- three kills in one night. The "100 Eyes" of the film's title refers to all the cameras they have installed around the house to capture the action. The couple goes trolling for two females and one male in Hollywood, then Skid Row, eventually coming home with Crystal (Liz Burghdorf), Clutch (Andrew Hopper), and Jamie (Larissa Lynch). The three teenagers were promised $500 to shoot a porno movie, but Ed and Susan's perfect night begins to unravel when Crystal gets cold feet and wants to leave. Eventually, the blood and mayhem begins, but Ed and Susan may finally be in over their heads with such an ambitious task, all of which is captured for our viewing pleasure.

Roof also wrote and co-directed the film. His performance as Ed is alright, he is most of the reason this is labelled as "darkest comedy." Ed narrates mundane events as he and Susan prepare for the murders, and throws a tantrum the minute things don't go his way. I don't know if it was scripted or not, but I liked how Susan was necessary to Ed's life, finishing his sentences and making sure her husband is happy. Ed doesn't seem to be as into this sick marriage as Susan is, as we will find out, and I think the strongest scenes were between Roof and Malone interacting as a marital unit- whether it be eating dinner, or hunting people in the house. A huge problem with the "found footage" idea is that out of the fifty-plus videotapes and DVDs "found," the "unsuspecting" film makers edited this massive amount into a story that runs an hour and fifteen minutes. Much like the terrible "Amber Alert," why is anyone who is "finding" this footage editing it to begin with? If this had been passed off as a Studio Red production, that might have made more sense. The gore effects are very good, the violence is brutal, but even at seventy-five minutes, I was checking the running time and wondering when the extreme violence and dark humor was going to begin. Co-director Jay Lee does a good job of editing what must have been a large amount of footage thanks to so many cameras. I have seen much worse found footage/point of view horror, and I really wish this trend would go ahead and die out. So many of these stories, including this one, would be much scarier if it was shot as a straight, linear horror film. "The House with 100 Eyes" delivers some good gore and performances, but little else.

Wasted Potential!
mspatari16 April 2022
I love a good torture porn, and it's here with this movie! The girl in the cage 😬! However, I feel like I had to watch most of it with little to no sound. THE EAR PIERCING NOISE IT UNBEARABLE!! Which also bled into the screaming. What in the actual F value was supposed to add?? Edge? Creepy? I seriously felt like my ear drums were going to bleed or get blown out. When it ended I want to keep watching more as the gore was great!

The audio.... WHY?!?
realityinmind15 August 2018
The audio is so horrible it is unbearable. This movie is literally impossible to watch. Not because of the footage.... but because the audio of the movie has white noises and garbled sounds purposefully inserted into it to give the impression it is found footage from messed up cameras. Why didn't someone in the sound department tell the director how bad of an idea this is??? I had to turn the volume down almost to the point where I can barely hear the film because randomly unbearable loud noises would appear out of nowhere. This is ridiculous. 18 minutes into the film it is the worst audio I have ever heard in a movie, PERIOD. But then 2 minutes later it actually topped itself with even worse audio. WHY?!? Oh my God this is atrocious. This is egregious to the art of cinema. Manos Hands of Fate sounds 10x better than this movie. Can you imagine??? Wow. I hate to be an extremist with a 1/10 rating when clearly the video is good (except for the random video artifacts that are also inserted to give the impression the cameras are messed up), and the story is good too! And the male lead actor genuinely seems like an over-the-top angry perverted murderer. But the audio in this movie is so horrible this movie deserves the lowest rating possible. 1/10. HORRIBLE!! Make sure your TV is turned down if you watch this movie or else you might blow your speakers and destroy your equipment.

Pretty Bad!!!
perfectx-7141519 October 2021
Just like other wrote before the audio is pretty crap through this movie! Whatever they thought they were achieving by that distorted annoying sounds they obviously failed miserably with. But unlike what everyone else feels I actually don't think that's the worst part of the movie. The movie itself is horrible! The two main leads are annoying, especially the male. He really makes this movie unwatchable. The rest of these characters are paper thin. The whole movie is just a bland, uninspired, found footage, torture porn. Almost nothing is shown really. The movie is very uninteresting and it fails to shock or entertain throughout its run time. Forget this movie and watch a better horror movie instead.

Yes, dear
begob23 September 2015
A perverted couple try to produce their nightmare home-movie, featuring the murder of three lost souls.

Wow. Far from perfect, but the degree of perversion is extreme. The couple are well played, but it would have been better if the actors learned their lines then ditched the script and riffed off each other - instead the characters are intimate but a bit stilted, and I guess having the writer/director in the lead role broke the rhythm. Script-wise, the end is nice and ambiguous, but the emphasis should have stayed with the couple to round out their story.

There is a huge mistake in the coyness over sex - some directness was needed - even one intense scene would have done the job. And some opportunities for disturbing gore were turned down. So another barrier for the audience. I guess that's why so few horror fans took notice.

This is a POV cam film (not much shaky stuff) so bear that in mind. Editing is good, pace good, and it crosses the line in a brisk 73 mins. Mood claustrophobic, music is barely noticeable, sound mostly natural, but maybe too much scratchy interference in the effort to create unsettling atmosphere.

Overall, a weird and interesting exploitation film that held itself back for no good reason.

Unique but, hard to watch
gwdrmmer23 September 2015
This movie is unique in the way it is filmed. If you are squeamish or have a weak stomach, don't watch it. This movie is in the top ten of the most sickening movies I have ever seen. If you like gore, torture, murder, and blood, this movie is for you. I love scary, gore type movies but, this is hard to watch. I gave it a 7 out of ten just because, the way the plot and filming are. I've never seen anything close to this. I'm sick of all the "Blair witch" type movies where, a group of people film a haunted asylum, and get picked off one by one while filming it. This will blow your mind. You must have a hard, strong stomach to watch this. Good luck.

An accurate picture of human malice
lsworks12 November 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I love this movie, mostly for its accurate and visceral portrayal of true psychopathy. The scary thing about it is it can (and does) easily disguise itself amongst ordinary people. Ed is charming, even relatable at first, but as it progresses his sadism and narcissistic personality start to be revealed, as well as a much deeper glimpse into his predilections. Even though Susan could also be considered a psychopath, as events transpire and they both become increasingly stressed, the power imbalance within their relationship is also uncovered. Consequently Susan realizes that ultimately Ed has lowered her guard and attacked her just like with his victims.

Damn!

Warning: Spoilers
What can I say? I went into this not expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised. The actors that play the husband and wife are pricelessly funny and charming. The action, or violence, was...'censored'. By that, I mean that the knife wielding and punching and choking and other acts of violence looked very staged. Though they blurred the 'nudity', they goofed. You could see the flesh-toned underwear the actors were wearing, which completely spoiled the shots. The husband reminded me of a low-rent Christopher Meloni, and the wife was vapid but smart at the same time, almost like a Stepford wife. The extras, who played the victims, were well done, and the story was interesting. All in all, a good view.

Hissing needs to stop!
breereeves-1986818 January 2019
It starts off like it's going to be corny. The killers are giving you a play by play on how to kill and get away with it. How and what to do, cameras, sound proof house, what to use, what to drive etc. It gives a look into their crazy relationship killing is like breathing to them. When they start to look for their victims it gets fun! The movie is gory but I don't think it's too much I have seen a lot of scary movies and Saw is worse on the gore. So, it's a lower rated movie but still good. Acting a bit more generic, but still worth watching. I loved it! Although throughout the movie there is a hissing with the film that is so uncalled for that's the only reason for the 7 and not a higher rating.
