"I'm feeling really good about this....."
nickmarcantonio13 June 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I wasn't given the option of leaving 1/4 stars, but let me say that this was time I'll never get back. Movie moves at a glacial pace in the first half. We are subjected to a highly annoying teenager and his misguided friend searching for a demon in the dark night of the woods. Apparently, nobody has given any thought to what to do IF they encounter this ax wielding demon, which right there caused me to lose interest. The lead teenager rambles on and on, desperately trying to make contact with something he is terrified of; makes perfect sense, right? After numerous attempt at contacting this spirit, always preceded by a "I'm feeling really good about this", and getting no response.....by the time something remotely interesting does happen, you'll either be distracted or bored to tears.

I totally get it. Ever since Blair Witch project came to be, the idea of making an interesting and compelling FF horror movie seems very attainable, considering you need no budget whatsoever. However, you must be able to capture the viewer's attention and interest. It's one thing to have character development; but this is like watching paint dry. By the time the action comes, you're either bored to tears or so irritated by the lead actor, you're wishing he would just get knocked off.

The score of 5.8 on here is grossly misleading and obviously cast related. I'm appreciate the effort and at least, they tried. Maybe with enough practice, the producers will come up with something interesting.

Slow, but ends up being creepy and effective
Brithorror24 November 2022
The first full length feature from the micro budget british team Unhinged Pictures hit us with an intriguing slow burn found footage.

The main storyline is pretty decent, depending on who you are you may find it drags and has too much talking. But I honestly find our 2 main characters fun to listen to. They are searching for the infamous 'Goatman' and its a great choice for this film as it's a terrifying urban legend which needs more recognition.

Later in the film we have a scene where they talk to a 'person' on a radio which is easily the best scene and it's superbly made, which you would not expect from filmmakers with this budget. It's very creepy and just keeps you wondering. I won't say much more than that. It's not as entertaining and fun as Director Henry Richardson's most recent film 'Hayfever', but if you prefer to be creeped out rather than thrilled and grossed out, give this found footage a chance.

Just about worth a watch.

So I mainly think this is worth a watch because of a creepy scene later on in the movie when our two protagonists communicate with a distressed 'person' on a walkie-talkie. It's really effective and done well. I won't say much more about the plot but this is a slow one and not for everybody.

We have an irritating lead protagonist who needs a punch in the mouth but his companion the cameraman really sells it with his dialogue he makes you laugh and feels really natural. The acting and dialogue exchange between these two is great.

The movie as a whole does take a while but I like how it actually looks like real found footage. This was apparently shot in like 4 days and it's completely free to watch as it's on YouTube so id say give it a go.

6/10.

Great effort

This is a genuinely disturbing and frightening found footage move made by three young and very determined filmmakers. The basic plot is that one character has discovered footage created by two other young filmmakers who are trying to document a mythical creature known as the Goatman. There's a lot that's a little too found footage for me, but about halfway through things start getting really creepy and scary. The ending is totally unexpected. I've been following their later efforts and their technique is growing by leaps and bounds. If they continue to grow I expect to find them make it in the industry. I wish them the best.
