This album is special to me for a few reasons. One of which is because for the first time I did a full band record where I played everything. Aside from the handful of lovely singers that did some harmonies and backgrounds, I did everything you hear on it. It was a fun experiment and I learned a lot during the process. I’m not a control freak in my normal life, but I do like to have control over my music.
Many songwriters have told me in the past that my songs are a little too vague and that I need to open up to be more personal in my writing. A few people who’ve heard this record say that feels like they’re reading my diary. That’s a fairly accurate statement. I feel like I really put myself out there on these songs and hopefully the emotions and the moods I was trying to contain while writing them come through.
